About me
I’m Abdulkarim Hariri, a postdoctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), working with professor Vladan Vuletić’s Experimental Atomic Physics Group. I earned my PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Michigan under the supervision of professor Peter Seiler. My doctoral research focused on quantum optics and quantum-enhanced metrology, spanning integrated and free-space squeezed-light sources, integrated photonics, dual-comb spectroscopy, and inertial sensing.
Along my academic journey, I’ve been fortunate to learn from many inspiring scientists, including:
University of Michigan: Herbert Winful (pioneering contributions to nonlinear optics/photonics; a pianist and a wonderful human being), Steven Cundiff (a leading figure in ultrafast optics and optical frequency combs), Alex Kuzmich (a prominent researcher in quantum optics/quantum information), Theodore Norris (an exceptional teacher, among the best instructors I’ve ever had), Di Liang, and Xudong (Sherman) Fan
University of Arizona: Ewan Wright and Saikat Guha
University of Ottawa: Jeff Lundeen
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology: Aurelien Manchon
King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals: Fatah Khiari, Zain Hassan Yamani, Mohammad A. Gondal, Mohammad F. Al-Kuhaili, Abdelkrim Mekki, Watheq Ahmed Al-Basheer, and Saleem Rao
I’m grateful to all of them for helping me develop my scientific intuition and capabilities.
